Rush 04 - Rush Christmas Special
Issue 4 11th December 2007
Hello,

This edition of Rush has gone all Christmassy. Because it's just around the corner! And because we love this time of year.

So we've gone way back (via YouTube) to some advertising classics of yesteryear. As well as bringing you some more up to date goings on from the crazy business we call marketing.

And if you don't fall for our excellent chocolate offer then you'll be just plain missing out.

Here's to feeling the rush. And here's wishing you a very merry Christmas.

PS› Rush is a condensed hit of marketing-related-internet-news. If you didn't get this direct from Creative Rush then send an email to subscribe@creativerush.co.uk with your full name, address and email to get it direct next time.

Because we love Christmas. And because we'd love to see you, we're offering a free box of fairly traded chocolates to everyone who pops in for a chat this side of Christmas.

Things we're liking this month

Boots
Trading on benefits (Get Gorgeous) and heritage (Trust). We like and approve of.

Lovely Llamas
Somehow we missed this last year. But because it's simply irresistible we thought it worthy of bringing to your attention...

Garmin
How can you not like an ad with a choir singing about a unabrow?

A trip down memory lane...
A selection of adverts from 1987. Of course everyone from Creative Rush is far too young to remember...

Play the ads
Shares in Eurotunnel anyone? A cordless can opener the size of a rugby ball? Eastenders a favourite melody? Most women agree this is downright scary...

Turn a 4 hr tape into an 8 hr tape? GET THE MAX with Neil Morrissey! And innovative heating FROM ELECTRICITY. Hey I'd love a...
Things we're not sure about

Girl Power is (apparently) back...
As are the ubiquitous sponsorship deals. This ad, however, seems to be more about the 'girls' than the store. At the end who's better off?

Coffee Panic?
Starbucks has launched its first ever TV advertising campaign in the US. We think it's great but will the slip in sales slide across the atlantic? We're hoping it does if this is how they respond.

Give a loo to the world...
Not sure it quite 'works'. Nice idea let down by execution. And Will Young.

Clever clever - but what's the message?
John Lewis are amping up their Christmas activity. A very nicely shot advert but to us it says more 'shopping' than 'solutions'.
Things we're not liking this month

Snow joke
The naughty Scottish tourist board have been wrapped on the knuckles for their misleading advert. So the skiing trip to Edinburgh is off then?

Fresh fresh fresh
Proving a point by repeating it over and over. It actually works in moderation. Not so much for Morrisons...

Can we set one up for odd socks too?

Emergency stop

A doggy tale

Non-PC ads
We tried to find some adverts that treated men with similar disrespect. But we could only find modern ones. Funny that.

Customer feedback

"Creative Rush grasped the complexity of our business with ease and as a result were able to design an advertising campaign that reached our full range of stakeholders. They have the energy that suggests they are new to the marketing business but the expertise to suggest they have been doing this very well and for a very long time!"
